Goal Setting

With the end of 2010 just around the corner and school finishing, now is a time that you can sit back and reflect on the things that went well this year and the things you didn’t enjoy so much. For some, 2010 went really quickly, but for others it might have felt like it dragged on!

The beginning of 2011 signals a New Year, a time for setting new goals, raising the bar that little bit higher and finding ways that you can get absolutely everything out of the year. Goal setting is about figuring out what you want and how you will achieve it. Goals need to be specific, measurable and time targeted.
First of all, you have to know exactly what you want- write it down on a piece of paper and put it up on your bedroom wall where you can see it all the time, be reminded of your goal and keep coming back to it.
Secondly, if they are measurable you will know when you have succeeded or when you need to put more effort into it. Having a clear idea of what the goal is and knowing exactly when you have achieved it will make the celebration all the more worthwhile!

Thirdly, having a time frame on it will ensure that you know how much time you have left to achieve your goal. It will help you to make an informed plan forward at any point. You will know if you need to go extra hard, or if you achieve it ahead of time you can reassess and see if there are any ways you can build on it.
Above all else, make sure that the goal is achievable. Goals need to be realistic to ensure that you can see the finish line.

So set the goal, always remember what the goal is and then go hard to achieve the goal!

What’s been happening with us? It’s been another busy month for our team. We did a bit of tour round Te Waipounamu meeting up with some of your teachers and careers advisors at our Educators Breakfast. At the breakfasts we told them all about the Kia Ora Hauora Programme, our goals, how we can help them and they can tautoko us... oh, and we had the mean feed for breakfast too!

We hit the Ngai Tahu Hui-a-Tau in November. Was choice as hooking up with our mates at the tertiary institutions and seeing all the up and coming leaders of Ngai Tahu there taking it all in. Primo to have heaps of visitors at our table. Gave away heaps of KOH stuff! Make sure to hit us up next time you see us... might have a potae or something that we can hook you up.

And by the way... i accept money, vouchers or real cars for my xmas present!!!
